Russian Kettlebell Training is gaining traction all over the world. It’s effective and can be done by pretty much anyone.

Very few know, however, about kettlebell sport.

In sport of kettlebell there are two main events:

Biathlon

Long Cycle Jerk

Biathlon consists of two events:

Kettlebell Short Cycle Jerk (lifting bells from chest to overhead)

Kettlebell Snatch LIft (bringing kettlebell to overhead without touching your body)

Kettlebell Short Cycle Jerk LIft

Kettlebell Snatch Lift

Long Cycle Jerk
Long Cycle Jerk Lift is when a lifter bring kettlebells to rack position (chest level) from down below and then to overhead position, then back down to chest and down below. Then, without putting kettlebells down, repeats the movement.

Whoever does the most reps in 10 minutes, wins.

Kettlebell Long Cycle Jerk Lift

This a short clip from my Level 1 Certification course explaining how to safely switch hands during kettlebell swings assistance drill.

To summarize:

Switch hands on the way up so that if you fumble, kettlebell falls away from you

Rotate kettlebell so that your thumb is facing up. This way your hand is out of the way and makes it easy to switch hands.

This technique is perfect for doing hand switches safely while practicing kettlebell swings, snatches or single arm long cycle jerks.

While in competition, however, more advanced methods are used.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no magic pill or shortcut.

Instead, there is consistency.

This approach is perhaps one of the most successful paths to sustained weight loss.

Is it easy to drink nothing but juice for a week? Sure!

Will you lose weight? Sure!

But that weight (and then some) will find it’s way back onto your bones. This is the reality of yo-yo dieting. In long term, it does not work.

Consistency, however, will get you there safely.

Eat with moderation and be consistent about it.

Move plenty and be consistent about it.

That’s it!

Give it time, enjoy the journey and think happy thoughts.
